Director of Advancement

20 hours per week / Volunteer

Reporting to the Pastor-Director, the Director of Advancement will be responsible for advancing the Baptist Student Foundation (The Found) by providing leadership in planning, developing and implementing alumni engagement programs. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and building strong relationships with churches and individual donors, and having knowledge of effective advancement programs, including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving and alumni engagement and stewardship. A working vehicle is a must, and she/he understands this job is a remote position. In addition, we preferably need someone who’s affiliated with an American Baptist Church (ABC) in the Indiana/Kentucky or Greater Indianapolis Region that has knowledge and understands the ABC mission tradition.

The Director of Advancement will manage, track, advise and oversee all fundraising activities, including
grantsmanship, donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship proposals, gift agreement development, and
contact reporting.

Sample of Duties: 

• Reports to the Baptist Student Foundation Pastor-Director. Submits written reports at all 3 (Orientation, Semi-Annual and Annual) Board meetings
• Develops and implements annual strategic initiatives and budget goals
• Strategic planning and execution of advancement activities: capital campaigns, endowments and scholarships, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving and grant writing
• Manages and oversees donor relations, including managing goals for visits
• Cultivates and develops major existing and potential donors ($1000 or more annually) by personal contacts
• Cultivates the relationships with top giving churches; develops and works a plan reaching out to all prospective ABC in the Indiana/Kentucky and Greater Indianapolis Regions
• Oversees the development of fund raising publications; designs, coordinates, executes and oversees several major fundraising events and writes for the organizations newsletter articles on development
• Oversees and implements best practices in areas of gift processing, data management, and donor relations, including donor acknowledgements
• Manages prospect research and cultivation initiatives
• Works closely with the Pastor-Director and the Office Manager in all aspects of advancement work; attends staff meetings at the request of Pastor-Director
